The core problem is the adoption-versus-value gap: employees use AI to save time but often hide the gains for fear of job cuts, so the bottom line never moves. The fix is to copy AI high performers, who treat AI as an engine for revenue and innovation, not just cost-cutting, and who fundamentally redesign workflows instead of layering AI over broken processes. Example: a high performer does not just hand its marketing team a writing copilot; it reimagines the whole content supply chain with an end-to-end agentic workflow, cutting campaign cycles from weeks to days.
